Stop selling out the city
In the eastern and western parts of the city, resistance against the redevelopment and housing policy in Berlin grew from the 1970s. Particularly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, there were a number of squats in the eastern part of the city. From 1991, the housing collective Botschaft e.V. ran the Club WMF in the building on the corner of Mauerstraße and Leipziger Straße. The artists’ collective A-Clip produced short films about the regulation of public spaces and the privatization of the city. These clips were smuggled into Berlin cinemas and played before the main film started. On the monitor, you can see the first series of these short films made in 1997.
