The new city emerges from rubble

 

In many places in Berlin, processing plants for rubble were built. Brick mills were much frequented, since roughly 2.8 million cubic metres of broken brick were in the rubble of Berlin. They were ground into granular material or brick dust and gained a very desirable material to build new houses and roads.
