Study collection
The collection of a cultural history museum makes a targeted contribution to research if the objects in it are accessible in a structured way. If the information that emerges from the objects is fully available, new questions can be derived from such a collection or gaps in research can be closed. A piece can also be used for comparison with a similar object from another museum. In this sense, the Mitte Museum's collection of 19th century Berlin porcelain is considered a study collection. Other holdings that are due to be scientifically catalogued include historical school wall maps, posters, bequests, photographs and holdings of other topographical image media such as postcards, graphics and paintings.
