The school building at Gesundbrunnen

The painter portrayed the front building of the then new schoolhouse at Gesundbrunnen with all its structural features: the two-tone brickwork, the molded bricks and wall projections, the arched windows and the weather vane on the roof. He also captured the northern façade of the building. He rendered the heavily foreshortened side in precise perspective to illustrate the volume of the building.

Streckfuß taught the subject of perspective, which was compulsory in the training of artists at the time. The painter was looking at the school building from the garden of the pastorate of St. Paul's Church opposite, where a lady was also staying.
